‘Cop Will Be Killed On New Years Night’: Chilling Note To Police On Bathroom Wall Has Officers On Alert

Most threats toward police officers have been directed to the New York Police Department. However, another department is now on high alert following a chilling note that claims another officer will be killed on New Year’s Eve. According to Arkansas Matters, a threat, made toward the Rogers Police Department, was found inside the bathroom of a local convenience store. The message was reportedly written on the wall inside of a bathroom stall.

It reads as follows.

“A cop will be killed New Year’s night in Rogers, AR 12-31-14,”

“MS 13.”

According to the University of Maryland’s gang activity report, “MS-13,” is the abbreviation for Mara Salvatrucha, a transnational criminal gang founded by Salvadorans. The gang, which was reportedly founded in Los Angeles, has spread to many areas of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central America. According to the FBI, the gang operates in approximately 42 states. Although most of its members are Salvadorans, it is not uncommon for the group to have members of other ethnicities.

There are currently no leads in regards to any possible suspects who may have made the threat. However, the department is more than sure the recent cop murders and threats against NYPD may have been motivating factors behind the MS-13 threat. Rogers Police chief Keith Foster released a statement about the threat on behalf of the department.

“Threats against law enforcement are nothing new. There have been threats against the police from the beginning, and I am sure there will continue to be threats against the police in the future. It goes with the territory. This is a glimpse of what law enforcement officers face every day. They know the dangers, accept them, and they continue to do their jobs. We will make note of the threat, we will stay vigilant and alert, and we will continue to serve the people of Rogers to the best of our ability. It will not alter how we do our job.”
