2014, 2015 New Year’s Hours: What Stores And Restaurants Are Open On New Year’s Eve And New Year’s Day?

Heading out to shop on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day may have been truly difficult, but it won’t be nearly as hard to find a place open on New Year’s Eve 2014 and New Year’s Day 2015. More things will be open on New Year’s Day, but hours will still be a bit shortened on New Year’s Eve at stores and restaurants so everyone can ring it in.

Believe it or not, most restaurants and stores will be open on New Year’s Day 2015 and actually have normal hours. Everyone wants to have the evening before off, and that means a new year begins on January 1 and it’s time to make money.

Now, this is different for government business, as it is a federal holiday. You will not be able to visit them on New Year’s Day 2015.

  • United States Post Office
  • Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Banks (most will be closed, but check by local branch)
  • Social Security Office

On New Year’s Eve, many federal businesses will be closing by noon, or 3 p.m. at the latest.

If you’re looking to head out to a club or something on New Year’s Eve, expect it to be insane. Well, the New York Post actually states that seeing the New Year’s Eve ball drop can be done without chaos, and they give some great tips on how to do just that.
