Tim Burton And Helena Bonham Carter Split, Rep Confirms
Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter have decided to call it quits. According to People, Burton and Carter, who have been together for thirteen years, have split. The couple were never married.
Helena Bonham Carter’s rep released a statement to People about the couple parting ways.
“[The couple] separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children. We would ask that you respect their privacy and that of their children during this time.”
Helena and Tim have collaborated on many projects together throughout the years. The actress met the eccentric film director on the set of his film Planet of the Apes. Following that film, the two reunited on many of Burton’s works including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and the panned film Dark Shadows.
Before Carter signed up for Planet of the Apes, Burton told her that he had her in mind from the very start.
“Don’t take this the wrong way, but you are the first person I thought of to be the chimp.”
She told the Guardian that she missed seeing Sweeney Todd when it was released.
“I missed the boat with that one. I didn’t want to go to the cinema because I was pregnant with Nell and I was exhausted and my mum was in hospital and I hate watching myself anyway. But then, later on, me and Johnny made a pact that we should watch it for Tim’s sake. So we made a date and we arranged a screening. And then, Johnny being Johnny, he pulled out an hour before.”
The couple share two children together, Billy, 11, and Nell, 7. As for their assets, they share two homes in Belsize Park in London.
Curiously enough, in 2013 Tim Burton was allegedly photographed kissing a blonde woman. At the time, his partner Helena came to his defense and her rep told E! the following.
“This is absolutely nonsense. The pictures were taken whist they were out and the large group includes family, friends, and work colleagues.”
Fans of the couple haven’t reacted well to the news.
