Kourtney Kardashian released the first photo of her most recent family addition, revealing the newborn baby boy’s unusual name.
“Madly in love with my little Reign Aston Disick,” Kourtney captioned the picture, which shows her hand gently clasping the tiny hand of her new son.
If Reign sounds a little royal to you, it may be that the newest Kardashian baby’s father, Scott Disick — Lord Scott Disick — wanted a regal moniker for his youngest son. Scott Disick reportedly became obsessed with royalty on a trip to London with Kim and Rob Kardashian, and became determined to become a member of the aristocracy himself. Scott Disick became Lord Scott Disick in 2012, when he, with great honor and chivalry, purchased his knighthood off of the internet. So the first name Reign may make more sense when considering that the baby is descended from royalty — purchased royalty, but royalty.
As for the middle name choice of Aston, it immediately calls to mind the classic and luxurious British car Aston Martin. With some Aston Martin models coming close to a purchase price of $200,000, Aston is a name that may have been chosen as a reference to luxury and exclusivity. The fact that it’s a British car manufacturer also may be a boon to the father who is admittedly obsessed with the British royalty.
Reign Aston Disick joins big brother Mason, aged 5, and big sister Penelope, aged 2. Mason and the baby also share more than just their famous parents — they share the same December 14 birthday. Mason had earlier revealed that he wanted another girl added to the family, and was less than enthusiastic about having a second boy added to the mix, but Mama Kourtney was able to help him overcome his lack of enthusiasm.
With the deft touch and quick wit of motherhood, Kourtney pointed out just how cool having a brother can be, saying, “Girls don’t like aliens and Lego guys. When you have a brother you can say ‘Look at all my Lego guys, brother.’ You get to be rough and you can boss him around because you’re the older one.”
Kourtney Kardashian and her knightly husband’s less than chivalrous escapades continue to make headlines, with their relationship constantly in a tumult, and Disick’s bad behavior raising many eyebrows. For more on that, click here.
As far as unusual celebrity baby names go, Reign Aston Disick seems unique, but not too outrageous, yet it certainly seems to be a step away from Kourtney’s previous name choices, which were more classic. What do you think?
