Since it was first announced at the beginning of November that The Bold and the Beautiful is losing Kim Matula in the role of Hope Logan, fans have wondered what that means for the character. Will Wyatt’s crazy mother, Quinn, hurt Hope in her quest to be part of her grandchild’s life? Nothing was known for certain where things were headed with Hope. Kim has portrayed her since 2010.
Soap Opera Network has the scoop on what head writer and executive producer, Bradley P. Bell, has to say about the role of Hope on B&B, and plans they have for her. Bell spoke with Soap Opera Digest, which revealed in its latest issue, on sale now, what fans can expect.
“Hope Logan is a critical and central character to the show. Hope will continue to be on the show. We’re losing Kim Matula, who is a brilliant actress, and I am hoping, at some point, she will return in the role — but the role will continue. But now, I’ve lost so many [actors and actresses] in recent years that I’m excited about the challenge.”
In the beginning there weren’t any plans to recast the role, but second thoughts entered the picture as it becomes more apparent Hope Logan is centric on The Bold and the Beautiful.
Matula’s last air date will be Friday, December 12. According to the report, the actress’ final scenes will consist of her sharing precious memories with Liam Spencer (portrayed by Scott Clifton). Several flashback scenes will showcase the bittersweet romance between the two.
Hope is a major figure on the hit CBS soap since she represents a new generation of sorts that’s originated by her mother, Brooke Logan. While Hope isn’t the man-eater Brooke is, she’s twice found herself in the most well-established love triangles ever created on B&B. Her competition with Steffy over Liam held on for quite some time until things switched to Liam competing over her with Spencer brother, Wyatt (Darin Brooks).
Speaking of Brooke Logan (played by Katherine Kelly Lang), the actress is on an extended leave of absence from the show while she competes on Italy’s version of Dancing with the Stars. She’s also taking time out for other projects during her time off from the show. She’ll return to B&B during the week of December 8, then leave again before returning full-time. More on this is also covered on Inquisitr.
