Known as the queen of country music, Miranda Lambert also deserves an award as the queen of multi-tasking. In recent months, the singer-songwriter has succeeded in a 20-pound weight loss while managing her dog rescue group, called MuttNation, and boosting her musical career. Lambert dished on those topics and her marriage to Blake Shelton in a cover story interview for Marie Claire magazine.
When it comes to success, Miranda keeps it all in the family. When she attended the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival in Las Vegas, Lambert’s parents and younger brother accompanied her. Shelton joined them as well to help with her MuttNation Foundation charity ball.
In addition to adoring dogs, Blake and Miranda share a fondness for drinking, she admitted. And she is open about the need for over-the-counter pain relief to counter morning-after headaches as well as allergies.
“I’m not afraid of a pill. I have to take them in the mornings because I drink a lot. Advil helps. So does a Bloody Mary.”
Just how much does Lambert drink? She defines her alcohol consumption as social drinking.
“You know when you have to check those boxes when you go to the doctor? Do you drink every day? Never? Socially? I’m always like, ‘Hmm, the truth or not the truth?'”
As for her weight loss success, Miranda is happy about her appearance. But she feels concerned that women are judged so much for their size.
“When you have to walk out there in front of thousands of people, it does feel good to know that your sh*t’s not jiggling. I’m just like anybody else, insecure and scared of looking bad or being criticized. But everybody’s making this big, giant thing about it. It’s way too much focus on women’s bikini photos, and I hate it. Why do we care? I want women to love themselves whatever they’ve got going on.”
Defying rumors that she and Blake are having marriage problems, Lambert expressed appreciation for Shelton’s upbeat personality.
“I’m not sunshine and roses. Blake’s the happiest person on the planet. He pulls me out of my darkness… Literally, everything is the best about being married.”
As the Inquisitr reported, Shelton’s witty warmth has become evident through his role on The Voice. He has become famous for his “bromance” with Adam Levine, while joking with guest coaches such as Taylor Swift.
In addition to her career and marriage, Miranda loves talking about her dog rescue efforts. Her MuttNation Foundation opened a no-kill animal shelter called Redemption Ranch in November, reported Great American Country.
The shelter also includes an intensive care unit for dogs who are ailing. Those who work with Miranda praise her work.
“I just know that she loves animals,” said MuttNation Foundation Director of Operations Gina Gardner.
I worked with her for several months, and I’ve been elbow to elbow with her on dog rescues, on spay-and-neuter clinics, out here working on the ranch. It’s the real deal. She cares about the plight of homeless animals. It’s her cause.
