George Lucas On ‘Star Wars’ Teaser: ‘I Haven’t Seen It’ — Here’s Why

George Lucas opened up in a recent interview about the new Star Wars teaser released last week.

Page Six possibly thought that the man behind the blockbuster movie franchise would give a thorough response when the topic came up during a recent interview.

However, what George Lucas had to say about it was likely not expected at all.

“I don’t know anything about it. I haven’t seen it yet.”

Keep in mind that, since the 88-second teaser was first released last week, it has been viewed on YouTube more than 55 million times.

In addition to the online views, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser was also shown over Thanksgiving weekend in 30 theaters throughout North America.

Based on George Lucas’ statement, his name is not added to the list of millions of people who have seen it. However, Lucas made sure that he further explained his reason for not seeing the teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens to likely eliminate any room for confusion or misunderstanding.

“It’s not in the movie theater. I like going to the movies and watching the whole thing there. I plan to see it when it’s released.”

Last year, George Lucas’ son, Jett, stated that his father was “constantly talking” to J.J. Abrams, the director chosen for the new Star Wars film. However, Page Six reports that George Lucas is “not really” curious to see exactly what the Star Trek Into Darkness director has done with the movie.

Quite a few online spoofs have been released since the debut of the Star Wars teaser, including some that shine a spotlight on George Lucas in one way or another. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, one viral video created the “George Lucas Edition” of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser.

Funny or Die even released a video of how George Lucas would have reacted after first seeing the teaser alongside Anakin Skywalker.

If George Lucas sticks to his word of waiting until Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released in theaters, he will have to wait more than a full year to get even a glimpse of the seventh episode of his beloved franchise.

The J.J. Abrams-directed film is not scheduled to be released in the United States until December 18, 2015.
