Nintendo addresses game-breaking glitch in Skyward Sword

Users have discovered a game-breaking glitch in The Legend of Zelad: Skyward Sword that you may want to be aware of – unless you love the idea of a game-breaking bug forcing you to restart the game after you’re over 10 hours in.

Fortunately, the glitch can be avoided. The bug occurs during the “Song of the Hero” quest and occurs when you obtain the song of the Thunder Dragon from Lanaryu mine, speak to Golo the Goron while in the mine, finish the Thunder Dragon Sequence and then speak to Golo a second time.

Nintendo acknowledged the glitch in an email sent out to Zelda Informer and, while the company didn’t say whether or not the game would receive a patch at any point, Nintendo did at least confirm that the game-halting bug would not occur if you collect the Fire and Water Dragon songs before going after the Thunder Dragon song.

“We have been made aware of the issue that results in being unable to progress in the Song of the Hero quest,” a Nintendo rep told Zelda Informer. “If the game has been saved after completing the sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed through the game on that save file. The only options at that point are to either start the game over or to use an earlier save file to continue.”
