Disney’s ‘Frozen’ Takes Over ‘The Simpsons’ Couch Gag [Video]

Disney’s Frozen will continue its TV takeover Sunday night on The Simpsons.

Unfortunately, Frozen fans aren’t getting an entire episode of The Simpsons centered on the incredibly popular Disney movie, and Elsa and Anna aren’t coming to Springfield. Instead, Lisa Simpson will channel her inner ice queen during the opening credits of the FOX series.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the December 7 episode of The Simpsons will feature a fun Frozen-themed couch gag. In the show’s “obligatory Frozen reference,” Lisa builds an ice castle, Homer becomes Olaf and eats his nose, and Santa’s Little Helper fills in for Sven the reindeer.

The Disney’s Frozen reference isn’t the only wintry scene in the iconic opening credits — they’ve been given a festive holiday makeover that turns the town of Springfield into a winter wonderland. Everyone rocks elf ears, Lisa plays “Jingle Bells” on the saxophone, Homer has scored a new job painting candy canes, and Otto has found a very merry new way to get high. You can check out “The Couch Gag Before Christmas” below.

You’ll notice that Elsa isn’t the only snow queen who gets spoofed — Mr. Burns makes an appearance as Jadis the White Witch from The Chronicles of Narnia.

You’ll need to view the opening credits a few times to catch all the visual goodies. Look out for Bumble the Abominable Snowman from the Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer Christmas special. You can also see Comic Book Guy holding a Festivus pole and the Simpsons’ home transformed into a gingerbread house.

Instead of taking on Disney’s Frozen, Spoiler TV reports that this week’s episode of The Simpsons will focus on the aftermath of Homer deciding to spend Christmas Eve at Moe’s. Obviously this upsets Marge, and Homer learns a valuable lesson: there’s no place like home to get drunk for the holidays.

The Simpsons couch gag is just one of many Disney’s Frozen references that have taken over TV lately. Danny Castellano played “Let It Go” on the piano during the season premiere of FOX’s The Mindy Project, and MTV’s Faking It featured a storyline that involved a Frozen sing-along. It has also been revealed that Lea Michele will sing “Let It Go” during the final season of Glee. However, ABC’s Once Upon a Time has the most Disney’s Frozen references of them all with an entire story arc featuring live-action versions of Anna and Elsa.

If seeing all these Frozen shout-outs on the small screen isn’t enough for you, you’ll be glad to know that you don’t have to wait until the Frozen sequel hits theaters to get more Elsa, Anna, and Olaf. According to Variety, Disney has created a short film titled Frozen Fever that will air before the live-action Cinderella movie. It will be about Anna’s birthday, and you’ll be able to check it out in theaters on March 13, 2015.

Are you excited to see more of Disney’s Frozen at the theater and on TV, or is time to just “Let It Go?”
