Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ Meets 1989 Aerobics Championship In Hilarious Synchronized Mashup [Video]

Words cannot describe the magic that took place when one internet user took an old 1989 aerobics video and mixed it with Taylor Swift’s hit song “Shake It Off.” The routine looked as though it was made for Swift’s song and the two synced up with near perfection. If the spandex unitard wearing, high-kicking men of the 1980’s aerobic championship isn’t enough, the variety of faux-thong spandex pieces the women are wearing will surely bring a smile to your face.

The video is a true tribute to all the things that made the 1980s a decade that still puzzles humanity to this day. However, when you add Swift’s hit track to the mix, you have pure internet gold. The 1:13 mark is so perfect it will make you cry. That guy is most certainly “lightning on his feet” and 1:35 features a trio of men with moves like you have never seen battling it out against another trio of men that are featured shortly thereafter. At 2:51, the women show that they can “play, play, play, play, play” too. At 2:24 you get a glimpse of Alan Thicke with a perfectly dubbed over Taylor Swift “hey, hey, hey” and the beauty of the whole video creation is complete.

I don’t know about you, but the only question I have left after watching this video is: what happened to major television networks broadcasting the National Aerobics Championship? The champsionships still continue to this day, just not to the same fanfare and glory of their 1980s peak. Would you watch the aerobics championships if it was broadcast, if nothing else to see the amazing outfits?
