Kate Middleton And Prince William’s New York Fundraiser Will Cost $50,000 Per Ticket
It isn’t every day that members of the British royal family visit Stateside, so the forthcoming three-day tour by Kate Middleton and Prince William to the Big Apple is being met with much excitement, as well as perhaps just a touch of good old American pomp and ceremony.
On the first leg of their royal visit, Kate and William are set to host a fundraiser for St. Andrews University in Britain, and tickets to the event will reportedly cost a whopping $50,000 per person to attend the gala event and meet the Prince and the Duchess.
The Daily Mail reported that tickets for the fundraiser, which is to be held at the prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art, will be selling tables of 10 to those willing to pay the massive price tag for the chance to meet the royal couple.
So what does one get for $50,000?
Well, basically just the VIP ticket to meet and greet the Duke and Duchess, some food, as well as the opportunity for guests to bid on a number of items, to raise more funds, including an overnight stay at Highclere Castle — otherwise known as the set of Downton Abbey — and a literary tour of Edinburgh with Ian Rankin.
E! Online reports that the fundraiser is being held in order to raise money for the Scottish University, as well as to honor its 600th anniversary.
The event is expected to host around 450 guests, and no doubt some reporters and their photographers will be in attendance to watch the royal couple’s every move.
But if reporters do attend any public event where Kate Middleton is, they are now required, according to the British Monarchy website to assume smart attire, as outlined there in all its British detail,
“Journalists wishing to cover Royal engagements, whether in the United Kingdom or abroad, should comply with the dress code on formal occasions out of respect for the guests of The Queen, or any other member of the Royal Family.”
During their three-day visit, Kate Middleton and Prince William plan to catch a basketball game at the Barclays Center to watch a basketball game as well as a visit to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.
