Tamra Barney was recently accused of not being there for her friend, Vicki Gunvalson, as she deals with her longtime on-again, off-again boyfriend’s recent cancer diagnosis. In response, one of Barney’s friends has spoken out, claiming Gunvalson is “desperate” and lying about Barney in an effort to stir up drama.
As the Inquisitr reported earlier today, Gunvalson dissed Barney during her interview with Us Weekly , claiming that while she heard from many of her Real Housewives of Orange County co-stars, she hadn’t gotten any support from Barney.
“Never heard from [Tamra Barney]… Interesting,” Gunvalson told the magazine . “You know what, you really find out who your true friends are when things like this happen.”
However, while Gunvalson claimed she never heard from Barney, a source close to Barney told Radar Online her claims were “absolutely not true!”
“[Tamra Barney] has texted Vicki numerous times,” the source said , explaining Gunvalson had made the allegations to get back at her former friend. “Vicki is doing this for two reasons. One is that she still has animosity from last season,” and the second reason was because Gunvalson “is desperately seeking a storyline for this upcoming season.”
“By planting the seeds that Tamra has not reached out, she can already go into filming ready to go with a controversial storyline that will be sure to bring the drama.”
According to the source, Barney has continued to reach out to Gunvalson as a friend, while Gunvalson has failed to step up when it comes to the ongoing struggles in Barney’s life, which include a nasty custody battle with her ex-husband, Simon Barney.
“Why should Tamra continue to reach out after how mean Vicki was to her last season while she was going through the worst time in her life?” asked the source. “The fact that Tamra reached out at all speaks volumes about her character.”
In closing, the source told Radar , “It is truly sad that Vicki continues to insult the two people that care about her the most,” which are reportedly Barney and Gunvalson’s daughter, Briana Culberson.
Even after Brooks Ayers was caught on camera admitting to possible infidelities, as the Inquisitr reported, Gunvalson stuck by her man, and even took a step forward in her relationship by allowing him to move into her home.
Tamra Barney and Vicki Gunvalson are expected to return to Bravo in The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 10 next year.
