People’s Sexiest Man Alive was revealed during Jimmy Kimmel’s Late Night show, and we have to admit People magazine totally pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes. This year’s Sexiest Man Alive is none other than Marvel hunk Chris Hemsworth.
As publications ran with the stories that Neil Patrick Harris and Chris Pratt were duking it out, another Marvel hero was at the top of People’s list.
So why did People Magazine choose Chris Hemsworth as 2014’s Sexiest Man Alive? It’s not just for his muscle baring role as Thor, but for his upcoming projects like Michael Mann’s thriller Blackhat and Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea . He’s not just a pretty face — he’s going places.
As for what Hemsworth thinks of all the attention? The Australian family man has a sense of humor about it. The 31-year-old thought the title was “pretty funny” and so did his wife Elsa Pataky, who gave birth to twins Sasha and Tristan eight months ago.
“I think you’ve bought me a couple of weeks of bragging rights around the house. I can just say to her, ‘Now remember, this is what the people think, so I don’t need to do the dishes anymore, I don’t need to change nappies. I’m above that. I’ve made it now.”

So what is he doing when he’s not wielding Thor’s hammer? He’s spending time with his three children and his wife.
“We just had a big beach day with the kids, swimming and kicking the ball around. That was the first time in a long time we’ve done that. That’s what it’s all about.”
Hemsworth has pretty big shoes to fill. Everyone seemed to love People’s 2013 decision when they named The Voice coach and Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine as their Sexiest Man Alive. Will Chris be able to compete?
