Evangelical preacher and motivational speaker Dr. Myles Munroe recently died in a devastating plane crash, which also took the life of his wife and seven others. New details have emerged about the cause of Myles Munroe’s death and the events leading up to the plane crash in Grand Bahama Island.
According to AL, severe weather may have played a part in bringing down Munroe’s plane, specifically a torrent of heavy rain. Bahamian Foreign Minister Fred Mitchell claims strong and steady rainstorms were present in the area where Myles Munroe and his wife were flying at the time the plane went down. ABC News reported that the storms were so bad that a commercial airline plane actually turned back from the Grand Bahama airport due to low visibility, while the plane carrying the world renowned preacher Myles Munroe flew on.
Munroe’s plane struck a shipping container crane in Freeport and crash-landed into a recycling center. According to the Tribune, authorities speculate that the poor visibility of heavy rains caused Munroe and his wife to accidentally fly into the shipping crane while attempting to land.
The Inquisitr recently reported on the death of Myles Monroe and the nine other passengers on the plane, including among the victims Myles Munroe’s daughter. But new reports suggest Munroe’s daughter was not on the plane at the time of the crash.
Dr. Myles Munroe and his wife boarded the plane at Lynden Pindling International Airport with members of their church congregation, planning to fly from Nassau to Freeport, Grand Bahama, to attempt a religious leadership conference the following Monday. News of Munroe’s death quickly spread through Grand Bahama Island, shocking the followers of Myles Munroe’s positive message.
“It is utterly impossible to measure the magnitude of Dr. Munroe’s loss to The Bahamas and to the world,” said the Bahamian prime minister in a statement. “His fame as an ambassador for the Christian ministry preceded him wherever in the world he traveled. He was a towering force who earned the respect and admiration not only of Christian adherents but of secular leaders both here at home and around the world.”
According to ABC News, Myles Monroe had been prepared for a week of speeches and sermons when his life was cut short. A statement on Myles’ Facebook page ensured friends and followers that Munroe’s ministry would continue without him:
“We would like to inform you that the Global Leadership Forum will continue. This is what Dr. Munroe would have wanted. Please keep his family and the ministry in prayers.”
