Roman Reigns May Be Tired Of You Touching Him: Crowd Entrance In Jeopardy

Roman Reigns may not want you touching him any longer, WWE fans. He is weighing the possibility of getting rid of the crowd entrance upon his return. As Cageside Seats points out, this was one of the core attributes of The Shield (Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins) when they were “brothers” defying The Authority, and even before that. Since it was a big “face” thing to do, it only made sense that you would give it to the straight-forward good guy. Rollins became the most hated man in WWE — save for John Cena — after turning on The Shield.

Ambrose is such a loose cannon that it makes sense that he doesn’t come to the ring in the same way every time he has a match or decides to attack Rollins.

Roman Reigns was The Shield guy that everyone at WWE headquarters wanted in that key babyface role, and so he got to keep the entrance. But in an interview with Giant Bomb, Reigns has decided it may be time to hang it up.

We’ll see, I’ve got a few ideas. I’ll just say this: If I don’t come down the stairs, whatever is replacing it will be way cooler.”

Some of Cageside Seats‘ readers had interesting ideas for how he could tweak the act a bit.

“Entrance via tiny clown car?”

“With that hair and the tattoos, just add an eyepatch and a bandanna, and have him come out to ‘I Am the Pirate King.'”

“He should run through a brick wall. With pyro. And some wolves.”

Still others didn’t feel like it was the entrance that needed improving.

“His entrance doesn’t need to change, but his in ring ability does.”

There have been many more of these criticisms in recent months. Fans seemed solidly behind Roman Reigns throughout the feud between The Authority and The Shield. However, after the gang was broken up, it became clear that Ambrose and Rollins were the two major talents out of The Shield even though the WWE wanted Reigns in the top spot.

It all came to a head at SummerSlam when Randy Orton showed up Reigns, getting the biggest crowd pops of the night in their singles match, which Reigns would go on to win.

Since then, the Viper has had a bit of a resurgence in popularity while WWE television hasn’t been missing much due to Reigns’ absence. How WWE brings back Roman Reigns will be a big indicator of whether he can get ready for the main event at WrestleMania 31.

Do you think losing the entrance will help or hurt him?
