For the last few weeks, Kris Humphries has been pretty quiet about his divorce with Kim Kardashian. But the NBA star has finally hired a lawyer to help him through the divorce proceedings.
Humphries has hired Minnesota-based lawyer Lee Hutton to represent him during the divorce. Hutton also represented Humphries when Kim and Kris filed their prenuptial agreement.
According to E! Online , Humphries decided to hire Hutton to make sure that the divorce proceedings go smoothly. A source close to Humphries stated:
“He doesn’t want a war. He’s lying low.”
Humphries said that he would do anything to make his marriage with Kim work. Humphries told TMZ:
“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce … I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”
But now that both parties have hired lawyers, it looks like there is no turning back.
According to the Huffington Post, Kim Kardashian asked the court to reject any request by Humphries for spousal support. Kim also said that Kris should be paying for his own legal fees.
Before Kim and Kris got married Kim had Humphries sign a prenuptial agreement to protect all of her assets. Kim should be able to keep all assets prior to the marriage (the Kardashians pulled in $65 million last year alone) and all money she made during the 72 days of marriage.
In contrast, Kris, who actually has a talent, makes $3 million a year. Of course, Kris is also currently unemployed due to the lockout.
The Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian divorce should go pretty smooth. The only way things could get hairy is if Kim’s ex-publicist was right and the marriage was a sham.
