It’s turning out to be a battle of the Royal Families. First Duchess Kate lost her fashion crown to First Lady Michelle Obama, and now the attention is being given to the royals of Monaco. Caroline, Princess of Hanover’s oldest son, Andrea Casiraghi, and his wife, Tatiana Santo Domingo, are expecting another child together. Kate Middleton is pregnant with her second son, and are no longer the only members of a monarchy that are expanding their family.
Casiraghi, 30, and his wife, a New York-born socialite and heiress, are suddenly sharing the limelight with Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William with the confirmation of their pregnancy. They already have a 19-month-old son together, so baby makes four.
The Monaco royals met years ago at a French boarding school. And after seven years of dating, they released news of baby on the way and their engagement to be married. Baby Sasha was born in early 2013, and five months later, her parents were married. Coverage of their wedding ceremony, while small in comparison to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s fairytale nuptials, still cropped up in celebrity news source headlines with an appreciable degree of chatter.
Duchess Kate’s pregnancy with her second child is being followed closely by sources, social media, and the like. Kate Middleton has been reported on many times as having health setbacks. Shortly after Prince George was conceived, the Duchess suffered from bouts of hyperemesis gravidarum, or severe morning sickness, which is characterized by nausea and vomiting, typically during the first trimester. And early on in her first pregnancy, Duchess Kate’s ailments returned, which caused her to be sidelined for a while.
During this time, rumors ran rampant that Will and Kate were fighting and the Duchess was bunking at her mom’s country home. However, a number of sources were quick to dispel the gossip that Middleton was refusing to return to her apartment with William at Kensington Palace. Now another Royal baby is on the way.
According to the Daily Mail, Andrea is the oldest grandchild of the beloved late actress Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III. He was reared in France and later attended the prestigious McGill University in Canada.
There are many competing theories about why the Brits receive more attention than the Monegasque throne. Some speculation is centered on public scandals over the years from Buckingham Palace and the high-profile death of Lady Di and her fashion-forward ensembles.
Duchess Kate is getting similar attention as Britain’s fashion barometer and her pregnancy. However, with the latest news about the Monaco royals having a baby, the space just got crowded.
