‘RHOBH’ Star Kim Richards Reportedly Self-Medicating To Cope With Ex-Husband’s Terminal Cancer
Reality TV star Kim Richards has been the subject of rumors and speculation for quite some time, especially when it comes to her allegedly falling off the wagon.
Radar Online reports that the real reason for Kim Richards relapse has to do with the declining health of her ex-husband, Monty Brinson.
According to the report, Monty Brinson is currently struggling with the final stages of his terminal cancer.
Even though Monty Brinson and Kim Richards were only married for one year before getting divorced, an inside source told Radar that they have remained close friends over the years.
“Monty and Kim have always remained close, years after their divorce. They had joint custody of their daughter, and co-parented very, very well together.”
The insider goes on to report that Kim Richards did not take the news of her ex-husband’s cancer diagnosis very well.
Her overall reaction to the news only seemed to worsen when the doctors confirmed that Monty’s disease had become terminal.
“It was a kick in the stomach to Kim. [Monty] has always been the constant in her life. They moved in together so Kim could take care of Monty during his illness… His voice is very raspy, and it’s extremely hard for him to talk.”
In order to cope with the mental and emotional burden, the insider tells Radar that Kim Richards has decided to self-medicate. With Kim’s admitted history of addiction and drug abuse, this news might be alarming for some fans and critics of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. However, the insider confirms that the 50-year-old reality starlet consulted with her doctor first and her overall use of the prescribed medication is being monitored closely.
“Kim is taking all of this very, very hard, and she has indeed been self-medicating to deal with the stress of it. Her medication has been prescribed by a doctor that is fully aware of Kim’s addiction issues. This is being very strictly monitored.”
According to Radar Online, Kim Richards’ living arrangements were not the only adjustments made in order to cater to the needs of her ex-husband. It has also been reported that Kim Richards’ 28-year-old daughter, Brooke, got married during the summer so that her father would still be alive and able to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

Brooke Wiederhorn (nee Brinson) even posted a picture on her official Instagram page of her father right before he walked her down the aisle.
The inside source confirms that the emotional wedding day will be a major part of Kim Richard’s story line on the hit Bravo reality TV show.
