‘House Of Cards’ Actress Elizabeth Norment Dies At 61
House of Cards actress Elizabeth Norment has died. The actress was 61 years old and passed away on October 13 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Her sister Kate confirmed the sad news to the Hollywood Reporter.
As some of you may know, Norment played the secretary to Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood on House of Cards. Elizabeth’s character Nancy Kaufberger was always on the same page as the House of Cards politician, and always thought two steps ahead. Her character had served under Frank since he was a member of the House of Representatives and throughout his political career.
Upon hearing of her death actor Kevin Spacey tweeted:
RIP Elizabeth Norment. We all loved her and she leaves a void in all of us here at HoC’s.

A representative from House of Cards released this statement upon the news of her tragic death.
“Everyone at House of Cards is deeply saddened by Elizabeth’s passing. She was a talented actress, a warm soul and a good friend to us all.”
The production company that produces House of Cards released an additional statement about Norment’s passing. “Elizabeth Norment was a talented actress with a beautiful spirit who touched the entire House of Cards family.”
Throughout her career she appeared in Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, Runaway, The Woman in Red, and had a guest spot on Law & Order as Judge Arlene Brewer. Earlier in her career, she was in L.A. Law, Doogie Howser, M.D., and Hooperman.
Back in 1991 the actress spoke with the Los Angeles Times while she was preparing to take on the role of Portia in The Merchant of Venice. At the time she said, “A lot of people in the business either saw them or heard about [those performances]. I’ve been working steadily ever since.”
According to her obituary, Elizabeth graduated with a master’s degree from the Yale School of Drama and was a founding member of Robert Brustein’s American Repertory Theatre, where she performed.
She is survived by her sisters Kate, Sarah, and Martha as well as her brother Clarence and her mother Nancy.
