Justin Bieber Wins Best Canadian Act At 2014 MTV EMAs, ‘Fifth Harmony’ Battle Next

Justin Bieber has been voted the Best Canadian Act at the 2014 MTV EMA.

The “Boyfriend” singer beat out Drake, Arcade Fire, Avril Lavigne and Kiesza to secure the nod.

But that was just the first round.

From here, Justin goes head to head with girl band Fifth Harmony. The winner between the two will become the nominee for North America in the Worldwide Act slot, the winner of which will be revealed at the 2014 MTV EMA awards in Glasgow, Scotland on November 9.

If you’re a Justin Bieber fan, then cast your vote at mtvema.com to help the 20-year-old move on to the final round of Worldwide Act voting as one of 10 international Worldwide Act nominees.

35 acts are now battling to be on the final 10. The regions are Africa/India/Middle East, Australia/New Zealand, Europe North, Europe Central, Europe East, Europe South, Latin America/ North America, Japan/Korea, and Southeast Asia/China & Hong Kong/Taiwan.

The artist with the most votes in each of the hotly contested categories will become that region’s Worldwide Act nominee, so say MTV’s rules.

Voting has already begun and will close at 11:59 p.m. CET on Wednesday, October 29 for the Worldwide Act category.

The list of 10 Worldwide Act nominees will be revealed at mtvema.com on Thursday, October 30.

Other artists from round one who are advancing on to compete include One Direction, who won the Best U.K and Ireland Act.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that rocker Ozzy Osbourne is set to be honored with this year’s Global Icon Award at the event.

Performers will include Calvin Harris, Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, Ed Sheeran, Kiesza, Royal Blood and this year’s host, Nicki Minaj.

Meanwhile, in other Bieber news, singer-songwriter and vocal producer Jason Boyd — a.k.a “Poo Bear,” who signed with the Biebs around January this year — has released a new song featuring Young Money rapper Tyga.

“Work For It,” a slinky, slow jam, showcases Bear’s assured voice, sexual lyrics and an old-school R&B flavor.

While Justin doesn’t appear on the song (unless he’s in the rich harmonies), he will be in the accompanying music video.

The upcoming video was reportedly helmed by director Tarik Freitekh in a five-day Los Angeles shoot and stars Poo Bear, Tyga, teen Vine sensation Nash Grier and Bieber.
