Brave Iowa Firefighters Prove No Life Is Too Small To Be Saved, Revive 4 Adorable Kittens From Burning House

Firefighters are trained to fearlessly barge into any inferno and pull out anyone who is trapped. Iowa firefighters proved their allegiance to the commitment and rescued four adorable cats from a burning house.

Firefighters were alerted to address a house fire on the 300 block of Seventh Street shortly after 4 p.m. Monday. Dispatched fire crews discovered thick smoke rising from windows on the front of the house. The front lawn was swarming with people and among them was a teenager with three dogs.

Wasting no time, the firefighters swiftly went to work and managed to bring the fire under control within just 15 minutes. After dousing the flames, firefighters entered the premises to pull out anyone who might have been trapped. Though they did not find any human casualties, they managed to bring out four cats of varying age from the house. Officials confirmed that they rescued one adult cat and three kittens from the home. They added that all the cats suffered heavily from smoke inhalation and had very weak pulses.

Medics who reached shortly afterwards, accessed the condition of the cats and administered oxygen via masks and tubes usually reserved for human casualties, reported KCCI. After 15 minutes, all the rescued cats showed signs of improvements. However, one kitten had to be rushed to the local veterinarian for further treatment. Officials later confirmed that all of them are now out of danger now, although firefighters did discover a second adult cat in the house that didn’t survive the fire. The cat showed no signs of burns and hence rescue officials concluded that the cat must have suffered from excessive smoke inhalation and might have died due to asphyxiation or oxygen deprivation.

Iowa fire department officials are still unsure exactly what caused the fire. However, they revealed that fire didn’t spread much and the smoke was mostly localized. Perhaps the cats might have been trapped in the same region the fire broke out and unable to escape, suffered from smoke inhalation.

Preliminary investigations revealed that though the fire didn’t spread, it caused substantial damage of over $50,000 to the property, reported CBS2 Iowa. Officials still haven’t confirmed if there were any other pets and have declined to name the owner of the property nor if the place was rented. However, they did add that none of the rescued cats had any signs of registration and did not have any tags in their collars that could have helped in identification of their owner.
