Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has spoken out about a new round of reports which suggest she is dating Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes.
Longoria, who divorced San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker in 2010, was rumored to be dating Matt after New York Post’s Page Six – dedicated to all things gossip – speculated that the 36-year-old beauty “may have her eye on a new baller”.
According to the paper’s source, Barnes and Longoria were “very flirty” while dining with friends at Il Mulino, Greenwich Village on Thursday night, October 27.
“There was definitely a spark between Eva and Matt.” The Post quoted their spy as saying. “They weren’t seated next to each other, but you could tell there was something between them. There was a little hand-holding over the table and a lot of eye contact.”
Although the Page Six item included a statement from Longoria’s rep that the pair were just “friends,” Longoria didn’t appreciate Page Six’s speculation.
“First Jessica Simpson, now this,” she wrote on her WhoSay page — obviously referring to the constant rumors about Simpson’s pregnancy . “Once again, press gets it wrong, Matt barnes and I are not dating!”
Further squashing the Post’s misleading story, Eva added:
“We are doing a charity event together for Padres and Athletes vs Cancer,” she continued. “Why is the truth never the headline? why did I bother to comment when they put your statement at end of articles? #stillannoying”
As per the reports, Eva Longoria is currently dating Eduardo Cruz, a singer and the younger brother of Hollywood actress Penelope Cruz. The couple was first spotted together on a yacht in Miami in February this year.
