WWE News: WWE Shareholder Asks Vince McMahon About Buying TNA, Vince’s Answer Is Priceless

It is obvious by now that TNA Wrestling is going through a rough period. Bound For Glory was held in Japan recently in what looked like a Bingo Hall. In comparison to where they work at in Orlando, Florida, this was considered a joke of a place to be. Especially when Japan offered so many better options for them. Especially in Tokyo. Years ago, TNA was going through a rough period similar to what they are going through now. This was when one WWE shareholder asked the WWE Chairman Vince McMahon when he’d buy the company.

The video has started to make waves online, despite the meeting taking place in 2011.

WWE is publicly traded, which means WWE fans or wrestling fans as a whole can buy into their beloved company. Vince was smart to do this, as it meant that he could get even more money out of his WWE fans. Really, there was no downside for McMahon. However, due to the fact someone is a shareholder, they are able to join meetings and get all business related material from WWE.

This is what allowed the fan to ask specifically for McMahon to “save the business from Dixie Carter.” He claimed that they had the wrong people running it and that Stephanie McMahon was smarter than Carter. While said from complete bias, the fan has turned out to be correct. Stephanie McMahon is one of the most respected business women in entertainment today. She has a strong level of respect within WWE but among business men and women, she has a massive level of respect that few women are able to have. Meanwhile, Dixie Carter does not have nearly the same result. While her employees respect her, outside people do not consider her a good leader. Those parting TNA have been vocal on Dixie’s issues with leadership and running TNA.

The fan said that if McMahon bought it now(2011), then there was a shot it could be saved. He felt that Vince McMahon would put the right people in charge of TNA and help it become a better product.

McMahon responded with, “I don’t know they’re for sale.” In a laughing tone, he did say, “Maybe.”

TNA Impact Wrestling

Obviously Carter has been adamant about not selling TNA to anyone. That would include Vince McMahon. WWE has been able to succeed without buying up TNA. In fact, some would claim that the issues that TNA has been going through has only made others turn away from TNA and to the WWE. WWE’s NXT product is, to many, like another company. It is based in Orlando, a short ride from Universal where TNA tapes each month.

Many feel that WWE could leave TNA alone and it will destroy itself, which is possible. TNA has been making bad decisions left and right. Since Jeff Jarrett left completely from TNA, decisions have cost TNA both money and ratings. The lack of Jarrett also led others to leave and not stick it out with TNA.

WWE has no need to buy TNA to “save it”, as there is nothing truly left to save.

Many of the top talent with TNA will be leaving or has already left. Many top wrestlers such as Jeff Hardy and Austin Aries have not signed new deals with TNA, but both have expiring deals. Aries has proven he can last in wrestling, so WWE might allow him to come aboard. Meanwhile, Hardy has done a lot to alienate himself from WWE but has a good relationship with Triple H and McMahon. So there is a chance we could see him by next summer.

At the end of the day, the fan looked foolish asking so much of McMahon back then. Today however, his words still hold up as factual. Unlike some, he at least has video evidence to prove it. While WWE and McMahon have had their fair share of issues since 2011 as well, TNA has had issues most would end a company on. If they do, many will not be shocked.
