Halloween Nail Art? Boo-tiful!

Nail art has been all the rage this year. From simple designs you can do at home, to the elaborate nail art designs show at New York Fashion week that featured petals, rhinestones, and faux gold chains. If your day-to-day style is usually simple, Halloween can provide an excellent opportunity to explore your nail art wild side.

For those who want to be season appropriate at your upcoming Halloween party, but still need to be conservative during the day, consider the new Christian Louboutin nail art pen. The nail art pen has a spongy applicator tip, and is designed to be applied to the underside of your nails. Go conservative with the look by using a clear or nude polish on top of your nails, or go wild with a rich black color inspired by the famous Louboutin shoes. Prepare for this luxury purchase: the nail pen is expected to retail for $50. Scary indeed!

If you can afford to be more ghoulish with your nail art, consider a spin tingling blood splatter manicure. With a white polish, your favorite blood red polish, and a few tools, you can create a gory scene on each of your fingernails.

In the mood for a fun and simple DIY Halloween manicure? Grab a vibrant orange nail polish and a black nail art pen. Try Essie’s “Orange, It’s Obvious!” available at drugstores for $8.50 MSRP. Pair it with a Sally Hansen nail art pen in black.

For an impressive DIY look without a headache, pair a black nail polish like Essie’s Licorice with a bright yellow stripe like Darcy from Zoya. Complete the look by scrawling “caution” across the yellow stripe once it dries. As always, follow with a top coat.

If you can go all out, and happen to be one of the millions of fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead, try this elaborate but fun zombie-inspired manicure. Fair warning: It requires false nails and four different nail polish colors to achieve, but it’s worth it for shock value alone. For that fresh-from-the-grave look, grab mascara and brush it along your fingers to mimic grave dirt.
