Child prodigies have fascinated human beings for a long, long time. After all, what’s more adorable than a kid pretending to be an adult, especially when they’re putting the average one to shame with their extraordinary abilities? While child prodigies are traditionally been pictured as the likes of Beethoven composing symphonies as a kindergartener, new shades of talent in the modern era have birthed something quite different than the accepted mold. Taylor Hatala is one such example, covering songs from Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” or Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” on YouTube with more attitude than a performer twice her age.
Her most recent video catches the young YouTube star hitting all the right moves to Trainor’s “All About That Bass.” Although she doesn’t match Meghan’s signature curves from the video, it would be hard to say that Trainor could hold her own in a dance-off against Hatala — even though “All About That Bass” is her song.
Hatala’s YouTube fame has been giving her some major exposure with top hits other than Meghan’s “All About That Bass.” Taylor also recently appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show to perform her routine to Nicki Minaj’s chart-topping “Anaconda.” Thankfully, Nicki’s dance from the original video is not recreated. Though Ellen jokes that maybe she herself would subject herself to Minaj’s saucy moves to dance half as well as Hatala.
“I just love that so much! That girl is so good. I’d give anything to dance like that, just once!”
Taylor has been blowing up in popularity using tracks like Meghan’s “All About That Bass” as a way to break into popular culture with her stunning hip-hop performances with teacher Max Steffania. In addition to Trainor and Minaj’s tracks, the pair have recorded a dance routine to Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea’s “Problem.”
Apparently a big fan of Grande and Minaj, Taylor also recently released a version of their track “Bang Bang” with Jessie J. Perhaps Taylor identifies with Grande as another child prodigy?
One can only hope that all the buzz doesn’t go to the young child dance prodigy’s head. Although based on the flattering tweets she shares on Twitter, Taylor Hatala appears to be far from unaware of how her reputation is spreading.
