Think it might be funny to joke about having Ebola on an airplane? Think again! Video footage captured on a cell phone recorded the fate of a passenger who decided to do just that. Needless to say, I don’t think he will be joking about Ebola anytime again in the near future.
Youtube user Patrick Narvaez uploaded the video of the debacle on October 9 and the video has already received over three million views. The viral video the inside of a US Airways flight from Philadelphia to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The video was taken after the plane landed. Passengers were told by a flight attendant to take a seat and that what was about to happen was, “going to look worse than it is.” The flight attendant then proceeded to condemn the man who was causing all the fuss.
“I think the man that has said this is an idiot. I’ll say that straight out.”
The man she was talking about was a passenger who had been sneezing on the flight. Apparently he thought it would be a funny joke to then tell others on the plane that he had Ebola. According to passenger statements the man then went on to say, “I’ve been to Africa!”
The flight personnel were required to report the incident and what followed was something straight out of a movie. Men in blue hazmat suits boarded the plane and had some type of beeping device. Three hazmat clad personnel proceeded to the rear of the plane where the man who cried Ebola was sitting and removed him and his luggage. As the man passed by he said, “I was just kidding. I aint’ from Africa.”
It was too late for this unfortunate passenger. The man was taken to a medical unit where he was thoroughly screened for Ebola. The passengers remained in the plane until the screening was complete for, according to Narvaez, approximately two hours while the flight was “checked by officials and cleared.”
Do you think charges should be pressed against the man responsible for the US Airways Ebola scare?
