Blake Lively Announces Pregnancy, First Child With Ryan Reynolds

Actress and celebrity homemaker Blake Lively announced that she is pregnant with her first baby with husband Ryan Reynolds. The message was posted on Lively’s lifestyle website Preserve, in a particularly poetic way.

In a written piece on creating a family Lively said, “Congratulations to all the expecting mothers out there.”

The end of the feature showed a picture of Lively’s baby bump, cryptically indicating that she is expecting. Considering how much the two say they want children, the only surprising thing might be that this is their first child.

As Ryan Reynolds explained to Details about having a big family, “We both come from big families—my parents did four, Blake’s did five. A lot of people say it’s crazy, but we’ll only know when we’re there, you know? We’ll walk through that fire pretty happily, I think.”

At one point, Lively even jokingly said she wanted 30 kids during an interview with Marie Claire.

“I gotta get started, If I could spit out a litter of kids, I would.”

Blake Lively has also pegged Reynolds as great father material, as she told American Vogue.

“He’s going to be a great father and leader and patriarch – he’s so meant to be all of those things. The fact that he lived so much before we got together, he’s the exact realised person that he should be. And so I get to share my life with the person he’s become, and we get to grow from there.”

Despite the many hints the couple has dropped, the announcement was enough for users to crash the Preserve website in hopes of getting a glimpse of the well-written baby announcement. The piece was posted Monday onto the fledgling lifestyle site, which was opened in July.

The baby will be the first for both Reynolds, 37, and Blake Lively, 27. The two originally met on the set of the movie Green Lantern, when Reynolds was still married to Scarlett Johansson and Lively was believed to be in a relationship with her Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley.

After Reynolds split from Johansson and finalized their divorce in 2011, his romance with Blake Lively began, and the two said their vows late in 2012 in a hidden ceremony in South Carolina.

There’s still no news on the when the baby is due, but some are saying that Blake Lively is most likely past the 12 week safe mark, meaning that the child will likely be born in the Spring.
