Breastfeeding Mom Kicked Off Delta Plane When She Didn’t Do As Instructed Right Away

A breastfeeding mom was kicked off a Delta plane when she didn’t do what was instructed of her right away by a flight attendant. The incident that happened last week was shared online by the mother on her Facebook page, “Momma Bean Stalk.”

As the woman tells the story, she was breastfeeding her infant daughter while the plane was still before began to taxi. A flight attendant approached her and said her child needed to be in her seat with the seat belt fastened. She told the attendant that she would momentarily, but once the plane began moving the attendant lost her patience.

“She then put her hands on her hips and leaned toward me and loudly said, ‘Now.’ I asked her why she was being so rude. She told me she would call the captain if I didn’t comply immediately. Three times, it was requested for me to buckle her in and only one time was a request, the other two were a demand and a threat. I had every intention of buckling her by takeoff as she had originally told me.”

When Delta responded to the woman’s plight, it was posted on Momma Bean Stalk’s page.

The mom was kicked off the Delta plane and was met by two police officers. She wasn’t charged with anything because she didn’t do anything wrong. Following the confrontational incident, the woman feels that the flight attendant discriminated against her for breastfeeding.

A rep from Delta Airlines reached out to Momma Bean Stalk and apologized for how the flight attendant handled the situation.

Other stories related to this type of incident has been written about on The Inquisitr. There are a number of breastfeeding moms who have encountered problems because they nursed in public. One article covered such a story when a nursing mother was made to feel uncomfortable at a pizza restaurant.

A report earlier this year on Huffington Post published a story about Delta’s breastfeeding policy. There was some confusion when a woman planning a trip asked a flight attendant with the airline if she could breastfeed her son on their flight. She was advised to pump or bottle feed her son before boarding the plane. Upon further investigation, Delta welcomes breastfeeding moms and there’s no policy within the Federal Aviation Administration guidelines that prohibit nursing on flights.

Was it necessary for the breastfeeding mom in this story to be kicked off a plane?
