According to the rumor mill, once-divorced pop star Avril Lavigne and her rockstar hubby Chad Kroeger are on the verge of calling it quits. And the Nickelback singer is already making it known around town.
A source at Us Weekly has confirmed that their marriage of little over a year "is over," with the Nickelback singer already "going around L.A. telling people that they are divorcing."
One cause for turmoil can be attributed toward the breaking of "Marriage Rules" the pair set for themselves before they got married. As reported by The Inquisitr, both Avril and Chad were seen partying around town without each other in direct violation of their pact.
Last November, Lavigne, 29, and Kroeger, 39, told People they had a self-imposed rule where they would not drink without each other. Last week, however, "the Canadian pop star was seen out at Hollywood restaurant Dan Tana's, having [a] girls' night out" while "Lavigne was also seen out partying at the Chateau Marmont with her girlfriends" on August 29. Not only was she partying, she was also sans her much talked about wedding ring in both cases.
In July, Lavigne tweeted about her 17-carat diamond ring Kroeger purchased for their 1-year anniversary. But as the Daily Mail is reporting, that tweet has mysteriously vanished.
Meanwhile, E! Online presents a whole different theory as to why Avril and Chad are having issues, stemming from nothing related to their so-called "Marriage Rules."
"The main issue is this: When they met, they were in work mode. They were doing a collaboration and that's where the attraction stemmed from. She was in the studio and he was producing her. She was also coming off some bad relationships where she didn't really feel appreciated as an artist. She felt she and Chad connected on that level. [And now that] the album didn't do as well as they had hoped…they're finding that they're not seeing eye to eye on a lot of things."
Avril Lavigne was previously married to Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley for four years and was linked to Brody Jenner for two years in 2012. If the rumors are true, add Chad Kroeger to the list in 2014.
