If you’ve ever been pregnant, you know one of the most telltale signs is an increased ability to smell and taste everything.
Sometimes for a pregnant woman, the moment you notice you’re with child is the moment you realize your super-smell or super-taste capabilities have kicked in. For most women, this manifests as aversion to strongly smelling foods, cigarette smoke, people who drink to excess or the hygiene impaired. For Beyonce, it’s her husband, rapper Jay-Z and his signature scent.
Beyonce was promoting her new Pulse perfume on a Canadian show recently when she talked about the whole Jay-Z smell issue. She said that she used to adore her husband’s chosen fragrance, but now it makes her queasy:
“I smell everything,” she said. “If it smells bad, I smell it. My husband’s fragrance, his one that I always love, I hate right now. So thank God I have this one!”
But B says that the feeling she feels above all else is strength- she elaborates:
“I feel empowered! It is the most powerful creation for you to be able to have a life growing inside of you.”
The singer and rapper are reportedly expecting their baby some time in February, but in characteristic tight-lipped Jay-Z and Beyonce fashion, the two haven’t announced a due date. Nor have the pair disclosed the baby’s expected gender, and Beyonce claims she does not know the baby’s sex. That hasn’t prevented the entertainer from investing in a pricey pair of Christian Louboutin pink booties- and reports indicate Hova has also been talking about girly baby goods:
