Justice For AvaLynn: School Said Child Fell, Mom Claims She Was Beaten

The Justice for AvaLynn campaign has gone viral. On Tuesday, August 26, the 5-year-old Mississippi girl was severely injured on her school’s playground. Although school officials claim the little girl fell, her mother is certain AvaLynn was beaten.

Lacey S. Harris said she was called to Arlington Elementary School, as her daughter was injured during recess. When Lacey saw her daughter’s face, she was stunned. The 5-year-old girl was “bruised beyond recognition.”

In addition to numerous bruises, AvaLynn’s face was cut and swollen. Lacey immediately rushed her daughter to the emergency room. Although doctors said the wounds will eventually heal, Lacey is concerned for her daughter’s emotional and mental health.

According to AvaLynn, she was playing on the slide when she was “kicked repeatedly in the face” by another student. She said she eventually lost her balance and fell to the ground.

Lacey has no doubt that her daughter was injured by another student. However, school officials have vehemently denied the accusations. In an official statement, a Pascagoula School District representative admitted the little girl was injured on school grounds. However, they underlined the fact that “no other children were involved in the incident.”

As reported by Global Grind, a Pascagoula Police department spokesperson issued a similar statement, echoing the school district’s findings:

“The mother alleges another child kicked her child on the slide. Right now, there’s no indication something criminal took place. I have spoken with school security and an assistant superintendent is investigating the matter.”

Although school officials and local authorities claim the little girl was injured in a freak accident, Lacey wants justice for AvaLynn. In addition to a Facebook page, Lacey created a GoFundMe page to raise money for medical expenses.

AvaLynn’s family and friends believe she was intentionally injured by another student. Unfortunately, it may be difficult to determine exactly what happened to the little girl.

Through social media, several parents claim their children witnessed AvaLynn being kicked. However, school officials do not believe the 5-year-old girl was harmed by another student. It is unclear why the school district thinks AvaLynn would blame another child if she simply fell.

Authorities said they will not investigate the incident as a crime. Instead, they are relaying on the school district’s reports and findings. Lacey simply wants to know what really happened to her daughter. Until she is certain, she will continue the Justice for AvaLynn campaign.
