Ariana Grande Teases New Ballad Before Taking The Stage At MTV VMAs

Ariana Grande, the next princess of pop music, teased fans just 24 hours before she’s set to take the stage at the MTV VMAs. Grande debuted a clip of “Only You,” a romantic R&B-laced ballad sure to melt hearts across the country.

According to MTV.com, “the romantic, R&B-tipped track features the “Baby I” songstress swooning about a special someone”:

“You’re the only one/Cause you look twice as good as anyone I’ve ever met/ And your love just becomes better/ How could anyone forget?”

Billboard meanwhile, raved over the snippet of “Only You” that Ariana debuted via her Instagram account:

During the short tease, her signature voice soars over a midtempo beat. And in true Ariana style, it is a throwback gem that recalls the sweet sounds of 90s R&B.”

“Only You” comes on the heels of her exclusive premiere of four new tracks in their entirety off her forthcoming sophomore album “My Everything” which is set to land in stores this week. The songs debuted exclusively on Arianagrande.MTV.com and features “a new level of maturity to Ariana’s sound” according to MTV‘s review of the singer:

On ‘Why Try,’ an unbridled pop anthem crafted by pros including Benny Blanco and Ryan Tedder, Ariana bemoans “living like angels and devils” with some guy who simultaneously drives her insane and makes her heart skip.

Other titles that were released include “Love Me Harder”, “Be My Baby” and “A Little Bit Of Your Heart”.

All of this MTV hype is of course the perfect lead up to the MTV Video Music Awards which will be televised live on August 24th. Ariana Grande is up for several awards including “Best Pop Video” and “Best Collaboration” with the Austtralian sensation Iggy Azalea. As previously reported by Inquisitr, Ariana definitely wants to take home at least one coveted Moonman statuette. The “Problem” singer took to Twitter to express her desire for victory:

She followed her initial tweet with two more praising those who nominated her, expressing herself both verbally and visually:

Whether or not she does indeed take home the gold remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: Ariana Grande is the next big breakout star.
