Mariah Carey Divorce: ‘Confidentiality Agreement’ Filed To Keep Nick Cannon From Talking About Split
Mariah Carey is likely going to file for divorce from Nick Cannon — and she’s not too happy about him telling the world about their personal problems. According to TMZ, Mariah filed paperwork to keep Nick from squawking about the couple’s failing marriage. This motion comes just one day after reports surfaced about Nick confirming that there was “trouble in paradise” and that he and Mariah had been “living separately for months.”
“Nick is barred from saying anything about the split. If he does, there are severe financial penalties. But Mariah has the right under the agreement to announce the split on her terms.”
Mariah Carey’s divorce from Nick Cannon is said to be a “done deal.” As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Mariah and Nick are having a “trial separation” while their loft is being renovated, but sources say that there have been meetings with divorce lawyers, and the couple’s six-year marriage is totally over.
And, of course, the two will need to figure out who’s getting what in the settlement, which will more than likely be sorted out before paperwork is filed. It is unclear if Mariah and Nick have a prenuptial agreement, but there’s a lot of money between them so this could get very interesting. It is expected to be one of the most expensive divorces in celebrity split history.
According to Mail Online, Nick Cannon has pretty much been muzzled by his wife. He is allowed to say that the two are “living separately,” probably because he’s already come out with that, but he cannot say anything else. When the time is right, Mariah will likely release a statement, but everything else will be kept as private as possible.
Mariah Carey divorce rumors have been circulating for several weeks, but now it looks like things are headed in that direction for Nick and her. While Mariah has declined to comment on the situation, filing a confidentiality agreement pretty much confirms that she’s getting ready to end her marriage.
It is unknown just how long Mariah and Nick have separated, but they haven’t been photographed together in months. The photo above was taken in January at the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles. The two don’t look overly happy in the photo, but they were together, which suggests that their split came in the following couple of months.
