Powerball Winner: Colorado Man’s Plan Is To ‘Have Fun’ With Jackpot

The Powerball winner from Rifle, Colorado has come forward to claim his $90 million prize. But when asked what he had planned to do with the money, the man simply said he was just going to “have fun.”

According to a report from The Denver Post, Claude “Al” G, who refused to give his last name, was the winner of Saturday’s Powerball drawing. He said that he and his wife, Jackie, are planning to do some traveling with his earnings. Beyond that, though, he’s not entirely sure what else he will do.

In a related report from The Inquisitr, the winning numbers were 3-12-31-34-51, and the Powerball was 24. The ticket was sold at one of the three Kum & Go convenience stores in Rifle, which has fewer than 10,000 people. The store will receive $50,000 from the Colorado Lottery Commission for selling the winning Powerball ticket

Along with Jackie and his mother, Marie, the Powerball winner claimed his prize of $90 million, the largest Powerball win for the state of Colorado. If he decides to go with the lump sum, he will receive about $54.9 million. At the time of this post, the winner said he wasn’t sure which option he would choose, but he has hired some advisers to help him out.

Since his Powerball win, Al said he’s made a lot of “new friends” in Rifle, where he has lived for 53 years. He also wasn’t completely sure if he was actually the winner or if he just had a dream about it.

“I have been waking up since Sunday feeling like this isn’t really real,” he mentioned at a press conference in Grand Junction.

The Powerball winner didn’t really give many details on how he felt after realizing he had won or what he plans to do with the money. He did say that he will probably continue to work his job as a tow truck driver so he won’t go “completely crazy.” His wife said she planned on retiring from her work now that they have won.

The couple celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary a day before the drawing of the winning Powerball numbers. They did say that they plan to have a second honeymoon, but they didn’t disclose where they would go.

Before Al became the largest Powerball winner in the state of Colorado, the largest win was $20 million. According to a report from The Denver Channel, that amount was claimed by two people whose names were filed under a firm called SEEP Financial. Both were legal immigrants from Germany and had lived in Colorado five years before their Powerball win.
