Chris Pratt has become the male version of Jennifer Lawrence, so it’s no small wonder why American movie buffs are eating him up right now. He’s been dubbed “America’s Sweetheart” by Esquire magazine and he also has been chosen to grace the cover of the men’s magazine August issue. The story of his interview and photo shoot with Esquire is quite entertaining, so be sure to check it out. During his time with Esquire, Chris Pratt discussed his role in the recently released Guardians of the Galaxy, which is on track to hit box office pay dirt, and his path getting there:
“When Guardians of the Galaxy was pitched to me, I said, “I don’t think so.” I just didn’t picture myself getting the role. I didn’t want to go and embarrass myself like I did when I auditioned for G.I. Joe a couple of years previously. I went in there, and halfway through I saw the director’s eyes just glaze over. It made sense—I was a little heavy and out of shape. I was not gonna play someone from G.I. Joe. I did not look like a G.I. Joe action figure come to life.”
Apparently the path to get into shape for his role as Peter Quill in the movie Guardians of the Galaxy was not an easy one. He also told Esquiremagazine:
“What you want is instant results when you’re out of shape…But when you’re in shape, you know it’s the result of doing a little bit every day. Moments aren’t just moments. A moment might be a week or a month.”
New York Daily News reports that Pratt’s new and improved body caused trouble during his photo shoot with Esquire. Most of the clothing was way too tight but he still seemed to pull it off rather nicely. All in a day’s work, Pratt would surmise during the interview.
So is it possible that the 34-year-old has decided to become the poster child for physical fitness? Only time will tell, but his fans will all likely have plenty of happy memories when they see his newly buff physique during the Guardians movie.
But there is also this Instagram photo that Pratt posted to his feed, revealing a shirtless reflection of himself. The photo ended up going viral.
