Champion Powerboat Racer Faked Death: Andrew Biddle Faked Death In Boat Crash Say Cops

A champion powerboat racer might have faked his own death in a boat crash, according to authorities. According to DeadSpin, 44-year-old Andrew Biddle wanted to escape prosecution so he faked an accident and went “missing,” leading police to believe that he might have died in the crash. However, it is believed that Biddle scammed boat buyers and was trying to just disappear so he wouldn’t have to face fraud charges.

Biddle and Tracy Blumenstein own Professional Boat Sales in Egg Harbor. The pair also compete together in powerboat racing. They currently hold the 2012 and 2013 titles in the U.S. championships in P1 SuperStock. Both Biddle and Blumenstein have been accused of conning customers over the past few years.

The champion powerboat racer accused of faking his own death is said to be “alive and well” and “on the run.” However, an accident reported on July 20 had police and the coast guard searching for Andrew Biddle — but his body was never found.

“The coast guard conducted an 18-hour search that covered more than 60 miles and included helicopters and the help of private boaters, but no trace of Biddle was found.”

While police say that they didn’t have enough evidence to presume that Biddle had died, they now think that the racer’s motives may have been the reason for his disappearance. According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Blumenstein was arrested in February and charged with fraud. It is unknown if a warrant for Biddle’s arrest had been issued, but it sounds like it was only a matter of time.

Police said that they are “obligated to investigate and prosecute Mr. Biddle for the aforementioned criminal acts” and they plan on doing so “until Mr. Biddle’s whereabouts are officially determined.” Clearly authorities do not think that Biddle is dead… and now they are looking into other possibilities, hoping to locate him. By now, however, he could be out of the country, living a new life.

The champion powerboat racer isn’t the only person who faked his own death in history… but will he get away with it? Probably not. In a similar story, a woman who faked that she had cancer was sentenced to one year in prison back in February. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Sara Ylen swindled about $120,000 from her insurance company after she claimed that she was dying of cervical cancer after being sexually assaulted. The claims dated back to 2001. It may have taken a while, but Ylen was outed… and many believe that Biddle will eventually face the same fate.
