Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed Set Wedding Date After 27 Years

In 1984 KISS front man Gene Simmons, 62, met actress and Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed, 54, and a courtship began that has lasted 27 years and two children. Now amidst a relationship that was falling apart the couple are getting married.

Gene and Shannon are set to tie the note on October 1st at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The couple have two children together Nick, 22 and Sophie 19 and the family is featured together on their hit A&E reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels.

As you probably recall if you’re a fan of the show, last season ended with Gene getting down on one knee and proposing to Tweed, although the season finale cut out before she gave her obvious answer.

The new season of Gene Simmons Family Jewels is scheduled to premier on October 4 on A&E.

If you’re not fan of the show let me bring you up to speed on the couple’s rocky relationship of late. Gene began seeing a therapist on a regular basis last season, attempting to deal with his lack of commitment to his family. Gene is a workaholic who took calls during family vacations, special occasions and every other chance he got. As last season moved forward Shannon, eventually sick of Gene’s lack of commitment and constant partying with female fans moved out of the house for a short period of time, forcing Gene to rethink his anti-marriage stance. After intentionally destroying his phone during a vacation to prove his commitment Gene took Shannon to a private dinner on a boardwalk and proposed, ending Gene’s 27-year anti-marriage vow which had come under constant discussion on the show.

Why do you think Gene Simmons finally decided to propose to Shannon Tweed?
