Good Morning America Gets New Anchor Paula Faris

ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) has welcomed a brand new weekend anchor to the show, Paula Faris. Paula is a former weekend sports for WCPO-TV. Now, she’s making the move to one of America’s most popular morning news shows. Faris will be co-anchoring with Dan Harris for “GMA Weekend” starting Saturday, August 9.

According to ABC News, Paula Faris is an expert news anchor who will make a great addition to the GMA team. She delivered many reports on the World Cup in recent months and hosted GMA‘s Real Money segment, showing American families how to save money. ABC says their weekend GMA audience has been steadily growing, regularly beating the Today show on Sundays. GMA is also the most-watched morning newscast show on the air on Saturdays.

The rest of the GMA weekend team includes Ron Claiborne, Sara Haines and, soon, Rob Marciano.

Paula Faris will be replacing Bianna Golodryga on Good Morning America. Bianna is leaving GMA to work at Yahoo! News as a finance anchor, but she will continue to appear on GMA to make frequent reports to the Yahoo-ABC News Network.

Cincinnatti.comreported that before Faris worked at Good Morning America and WCPO-TV, she reported news and sports at Dayton’s WKEF/WRGT-TV. From there, Paula went to Chicago’s WMAQ-TV in 2005 and eventually made her way to ABC news in 2011. Before she got the gig at GMA, Faris anchored the ABC segments “America This Morning” and the “World News Now,” as well as various news stories. She graduated from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, and now lives in New York City with her husband and children.

The president of ABC News, James Goldston welcomed the new GMA anchor in a note to the news division, which you can read here.
