Queen Bey has arrived! At least her clothing has. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio just got a big dose of diva. A new exhibit is now open to the public that showcases some of Beyonce’s most notorious wardrobe pieces throughout the years.
According to Action News 19, it all started with first asking for Beyonce’s Super Bowl outfit. The associate curator of the museum, Meredith Rutledge-Borger had the following to say about how the exhibit came to fruition:
I just asked for the Super Bowl outfit, and they came back to me and said, ‘Yeah, we can do that, but we’d also like to do something more substantial. Would that be possible?’ and I said, yeah!
What started out as one outfit turned into an entire exhibit including seven of Beyonce’s most iconic wardrobe pieces that she has worn throughout the years. Fans can see the single sleeve black leotard that she strutted her stuff in during the “Single Ladies” video. A reported fan favorite that is also on display is the black sequined Givenchy number that she wore to the 2012 Met Gala.
Time magazine also picked up the story and offered the following insight from the curator:
When we looked at the depth of the amount of stuff that she was willing to send, we just thought, ‘The only way we can really showcase these items is to put them in the Legends of Rock area in the museum,’ which really is the spot that we have to pay tribute to legends of rock, which Beyonce has proven herself to be.
This exhibit has been part of the museum’s initiative to mesh diverse musical genres into the rock & roll characteristics that make music so meaningful to so many people. Rutledge-Borger shared the following insight:
Rock and roll has an inter-generational appeal and we want to make sure we’re hitting all the right notes and keeping up with what’s happening today and what’s legendary today.
Fans can see the Beyonce collection of outfits in the Rock Hall with no definite date of departure.
Currently, Beyonce is on tour with her husband, rap mogul Jay Z and the two have a lot going on during this tour, which has been aptly named On The Run. In related news, Jay Z and his megastar wife have reportedly signed with HBO to produce a special concert documentary to be released in September.
