An Ice Cream Cone Has Never Made You Cry This Much, See This Loving Dog Devour Her Last Treat

Meeka was a loving, loyal dog, but after 16 years, her health was failing and sadly, her owner had to make the painful decision to put the beautiful wolf dog to sleep. But there was one thing that Meeka always wanted —unfortnately, it was one thing she never got. After all, ice cream cones aren’t the best things for dogs to eat.

But on the final afternoon of her life, Meeka finally got her treat — a whole ice cream cone all to herself, complete with rainbow sprinkles.

This lovely but heartbreaking little story comes from a poster on the internet forum Reddit, who goes by the screen name CleverFox. We can tell that CleverFox was what every human companion should be to a dog. Just spend a few minutes with these pictures she posted of Meeka enjoying her final treat. And enjoy it she did.

After receiving hundreds of emotional responses to her photos on Reddit, CleverFox returned with a message about the now departed dog, and the ice cream come she always wanted.

“Thank you all for the wonderful comments, stories, and comfort you’ve provided,” she wrote. “They’ve made me cry, laugh, smile, and wince. I’m so glad I was able to share her last night with all of you, and hopefully that helped you in some way. I also wanted to apologize for making so many of you cry! We often confuse endings with sadness. But, it does not mean it should be a sad/sob story. This is the tale of a happy story – a 16 year old beautiful dog that gave me so many wonderful memories. Now she is able to have a happy end to her life filled with ice cream, instead of discomfort and pain.”

“My dog’s name is Meeka and she is a husky/german-shepherd mix. She truly is an amazing dog…she used to be able to bark ‘I love you and she could escape out of anything you could imagine (even a metal cage)! I feel so blessed to have spent 16 long years with her, but unfortunately it is now her time to run away to paradise. Meeka has forever left a paw print on my heart, and I will always love her.”
