Warning! When you see the below photo of the two adorable shelter dogs Kyra and Delaware, you may be forced to adopt them. You won’t be able to help yourself, even if you don’t live in Atlanta, Georgia, where these two lovable girls are housed at the Fulton County Animal Services shelter.

This photo of Kyra — the black dog on the left in the photo above — and Delaware has been going viral around the internet over the last few days, and when you see it, you’ll find it pretty easy to see why. This photo shows, in a way that only dogs can show, that all of us — people and animals — need nothing more than love.

But first, a little about the two shelter dogs in the photo. Here is how Fulton County Animal Services site describes Kyra :

“Cute little Krya is just over a year old, and a very high energy and playful girl. She will be a fantastic walking or jogging companion. She weighs 36 lbs, is spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped and ready to go home today!”

And here is the agency’s description of Delaware :

“Cute little Delaware is only 8 months old and weighs 27lbs. She is very playful, high energy and friendly. She is waiting on a wonderful person to come and adopt her. She is already spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. She can leave with an approved adopter today.”

At latest report, neither dog had made it out of the shelter into a new home.

Okay, get ready. Here’s the photo that, well, if it doesn’t make you want to immediately take these shelter dogs home, we don’t know what to say.

And if you can’t adopt either dog, share this photo and maybe someone else can.

While the number of pets who are euthanized in shelters every year is on the way down , there are still far too many who meet that heartbreaking fate, for no other reason, in most cases, than that they are taking up space.

We’ll talk about cats some other time. Staying with dogs, there are 3.9 million who end up in one of the United States nearly 14,000 animal shelters every year. Of those, 1.2 million never come out. After failing to find a good home, they are put to sleep.

The good news is, 1.4 million shelter dogs are adopted every year.

If you would like to add to that good news by taking home Kyra or Delaware, click over to the Fulton County Animal Services site to get more info.
