Amanda Longacre Should Receive Back Her 2014 Miss Delaware Crown

Amanda Longacre deserves to have her 2014 Miss Delaware crown given back to her, and the beauty pageant officials should apologize for the mess they made, not her. Why do I say this you may ask?

In a related report by The Inquisitr , when Miss Delaware was stripped of her crown, she made it quite clear that she feels she has been wronged:

“I did absolutely nothing wrong and I want to make that clear. Now I have lost everything, my scholarship money for school, my prizes and my crown, all because of a technicality that was not caught by the executive board.”

Unfortunately, Amanda Longacre’s age is the real kicker, and it is something that should have been cleared up long before she was allowed to compete in the beauty pageant. She is only 24 years old, but the official rules have an age limit where 25 years old is one year too much. (It is almost as if they are saying twenty-somethings are no longer beautiful once they reach that midway point.)

In any case, when Longacre applied to enter the Miss Delaware beauty pageant, she gave officials her driver’s license and an official copy of her birth certificate. So they would have known her 25th birthday was October 22, and that the beauty pageant itself would take place while she was still 24 years old. But the officials are grabbing her crown on a technicality that she was probably not even aware of until now. While she is still age 24, the pageant rules say Miss Delaware contestants must not only be no older than 24 but they also cannot turn 25 before the end of the year!

Unless the officials have evidence that Miss Delaware Amanda Longacre entered the contest while knowing she was breaking a rule, I would say she deserves to have her crown back. In addition, it is reported she is looking into a lawsuit to get her $11,000 scholarship back, and she has already skipped college semesters because she had planned to be fulfilling her Miss Delaware duties. If anything it sounds like she’s owed damages in addition to a hefty apology.

Do you think Miss Delaware Amanda Longacre should be given her crown back?
