Owner Gives Up Puppy After Embarrassing Facebook Post Accuses Him Of Animal Neglect, Abuse

An owner gives up his puppy after an embarrassing Facebook post. A photo uploaded to the social network a few months back resulted in accusations from visitors that he’d been neglecting and abusing the animal. Gilbert Rosalez is at the end of his rope trying to figure out how he should go about getting out of the predicament he finds himself in. Just recently, someone snapped a picture of his 10-month-old pit bull puppy lying her cage outside, NBC 2 reports.

Rosalez tells the news source:

“She’s so hyper! She loves to play. She loves to play all day. She’ll play with anything.”

The owner says that he’s owned the puppy since she was 8-weeks-old, and feels pressured to give her up because of the Facebook post. Examiner also reports on this story.

A number of pet lovers are upset about the photo. Rosalez continues:

“I’m just going to give her away, because I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what to do.”

Rosalez says he’s been harassed by neighbors and strangers since the post two months ago. An ad on Craigslist claims the pit bull pup is dead.

A worried neighbor thinks the owner is being irresponsible about his dog’s well-being. She even approached Rosalez about rescuing his dog. She says:

“You can’t leave her in the screened in porch brother. It gets up to 100 degrees outside.”

The unidentified neighbor goes on to say that as soon as she saw the post on Facebook, she was intent on taking her home, and it didn’t matter if someone was at the home or not.

According to the report, Lee County Animal Control has paid Rosalez a visit many times in response to the complaints against him, but they haven’t cited him for anything.

The puppy owner thinks if he gives her up, he can move on with his life. He says:

“I don’t feel like I’m doing anything wrong but they’re showing up. I can’t, I can’t. I feel like I can’t win, so id just rather give the dog
away, avoid all these problems.”

Gilbert Rosalez gets why people are concerned about his young dog after the Facebook post. He reasons:

“Animal control says its a busy intersection, people think they’re doing the right thing, but it’s too much. So I’m going to give her away.”

Animal control tells the news site that they’ve been out to the owner’s home over animal neglect complaints “and each time the puppy has been ‘OK.'”
