John Balyo, Christian Radio Host To Be Arraigned Monday On Child Sex Charges

John Balyo, the former radio host on Christian radio station WCSG-FM in Grand Rapids, Michigan will be arraigned Monday afternoon on first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Balyo, 35, was arrested Friday morning at a Christian music festival near Gaylord.

He is accused of paying 41-year-old Ronald Lee Moser to arrange sexual encounters with children.

Moser was arrested in early June, after officers with the federal Homeland Security Investigations unit raided his home – where they found him living with a 12-year-old boy and a large collection of child pornography, reported the New York Daily News.

Moser was allegedly running a website “looking for people in or around Michigan that r in to kids” that allowed customers to pay for sex with underage boys. He helped investigators to make a case against Balyo.

Khaalid Wells, a spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said evidence discovered in Balyo’s home lead them to make the arrest in Gaylord. Authorities allege Balyo had a sexual encounter with a minor in Battle Creek in the spring.

Authorities say the investigation was conducted under Homeland Security Investigations’ Operation Predator, an international initiative to protect children from sexual predators.

The station’s General Manger, Chris Lemke issued a statement after the arrest saying Balyo was “put on indefinite paid administrative leave pending further investigation and the legal process,” adding they were “shocked and deeply saddened to learn” of Balyo’s arrest.

WCSG, Grand Rapids’ Family Christian Radio station is affiliated with Cornerstone University. Cornerstone issued a statement Saturday: “Effective today, John Balyo is no longer affiliated with WCSG Radio.”

Lemke went on the air Monday morning and urged listeners to pray for Balyo, his family, co-workers and alleged victims reported mlive.com.“God’s people will not lose heart,” he said.

Balyo’s morning co-host, Amanda, is taking this week off, but will return next week. “And, we know you may be hurting as well,” Lemke told listeners, “yet we have hope.”

Lemke asked for prayers for all who have been hurt by the allegations.

“We pray for John. We pray for his bride and new stepson,” he said. “More importantly, please pray for the victims of the allegations.”

Lemke pleaded with God for healing for the victims. “You are the great healer. Heal them up. We pray for them.”

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Balyo was praised for his work in sponsoring children through Compassion International and was filmed meeting his sponsored child in Uganda.

Balyo was scheduled to be arraigned late Monday afternoon.
