Gwen Stefani and Adam Levine are teaming up their voices.

In addition to being named as a new coach for Season 7 of The Voice , Stefani will be joining fellow coach Levine on the new Maroon 5 record. Adam reluctantly announced on the Ryan Seacrest Show that the rumors surrounding a collaboration with Gwen were indeed true.

“How do you know everything already?” Adam joked with Ryan as detailed by Entertainmentwise.com . “I wanted it to be a surprise, but she is.”

And since confirming Gwen’s appearance on his new record, V , in stores September 2nd, Adam has gone out of his way to compliment his new collaborator. While Levine wouldn’t divulge the song’s title to MTV.com , he did have this to say about working with Stefani:

“She’s incredible. It was so much fun. We just sat around and talked for hours. It was so fantastic getting to know her. I’m a huge fan of hers.”

Stefani, meanwhile, is joined by Levine and fellow newcomer Pharrell Williams in a brand new promo shot that was just released for Season 7 of The Voice . Blake Shelton , the only other returning coach, anchors the publicity photo that has been circulating on the web via Instagram . The caption underneath reads, “First look: Season 7 #HOLLA”

Stefani also took to Instagram with a shot of herself outside the studio where the show is filming:

Stefani captioned the pic “#workingit on the set @nbcthevoice gx”

But not everything is fun and games for the new Voice coaches. Adam Levine has been working damage control over criticisms he shared with Rolling Stone in a recent article. In it, Levine claimed that The Voice suffers from a lack of breakout stars:

“I’m not going to lie to you, I think there are problems. Millions… watch the show every week and fall in love with a singer, then you don’t hear much from them. We haven’t had a breakout success like Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood.”

As reported by Inquisitr, however, Adam quickly claimed his quotes from the Rolling Stone article were taken out of context .

Regardless, the collaboration of Gwen Stefani and Adam Levine already has everyone talking. Not to mention the artists themselves, who are overjoyed to be a part of the experience.

Gwen recently had this to say to The Hollywood Reporter when asked about joining The Voice :

“I’m trying to pinch myself — is this really happening?”

Fans of The Voice and Gwen Stefani are elated that it is.
