Mom Wears Dress To Graduation That Got Daughter In Trouble At School: A Mom’s ‘Real’ Revenge

A mom wore her daughter’s “short” dress to her graduation as an act of revenge against the school for ruining the girl’s last day. Amy Redwine wanted her daughter, Violet Burkhart, to have a great last day of school before senior graduation, but it didn’t turn out that way.

Violet toldMyFox 8 that she dressed up for her last day at Central Davidson High School in Lexington, North Carolina and instead of it being a day full of special memories, it was a nightmare. She said:

“I thought my last day was going to be great and exciting, but they pretty much ruined it for me.”

Two hours before school let out, teachers pulled Burkhart aside to measure her dress in the middle of the school’s hallway. They told her the dress is half an inch too short, then called her mother to take her home and change. Violet’s mother, Amy, said:

“I literally looked back at the clock and I’m thinking, it’s 1:00 in the afternoon on her last day of her senior year. My daughter — it’s supposed to be one of her best days and she’s there crying.”

Amy Redwine disagreed with how the school handled her daughter’s dress code that day, especially since it was Violet’s last day and she’d worn the dress before to school. Redwine isn’t against dress code, but her daughter was humiliated. Redwine doesn’t see the issue with the dress that Styleite refers to as a Harlot’s Frock (“Forever 21 belted dress”). Her problem lies with how the school went about treating her daughter that last day of school.

Redwine told MyFox 8:

“If I thought this dress was inappropriate, I would have never allowed her to wear the dress.”

Unhappy that her daughter’s last day of school fell short of awesome, Amy took matters into her own hands. Violet’s graduation was by no means a repeat of her last at Central David High School. Her mom proudly threw on the dress she was sent home for wearing and attended the graduation in it. Redwine asserted:

“If her dress is too short, then my dress is too short and I’m going to wear it in front of everybody and be proud just like she should have been able to on her last day.”

According to the report, the school district hasn’t responded to the incident for comment.
