Summertime is the best time to tour! Several musicians have recently set sail on tours, cross country or internationally, and it seems the latest duo to lift anchor are Drake and Lil Wayne.
Reports confirm that Drake and Lil Wayne will join each other on tour over the summer and into the fall. Theirs will pass through various stops throughout the United States. The 31-city tour begins in LA on July 16, and moves from there to NY in early August. It looks like the hip-hop singer and his co-headlining rapper are working on various projects during their tour, and the dates for the tour may be interspersed between these projects.
Drake was recently featured in a Rolling Stone story when he participated in an interview with SNL cast member Vanessa Bayer on her hilariously awkward interview web series by the name of Sound Advice. During this interview, he was asked all kinds of inappropriate questions, and his answers were even more outlandish at times. The Rolling Stone story was released just in time for him to promote the aforementioned 31-city tour with Lil Wayne.
Drake is also fresh off a break up with Rihanna, and apparently the two didn’t exactly part ways as friends. A source close to Drake told a British tabloid that Rihanna should “forget his face, forget his number and never call or come crying when she’s hurt or lonely.”
Recently, Lil Wayne has been in the news as well, but to come to the aid of his friend Justin Bieber. Lil Wayne and the Young Money Entertainment crew have recently spoken out in support of Justin Bieber after a video of him leaked showing the then 15-year-old making racist slurs on camera. Lil Wayne made a statement saying that
“Bieber does not have a slave mentality. He treats his people with respect.” Similarly, Mack Maine, another member of the Young Money crew, has gone on record to say:
I remember telling a white man, Chinese man, Black man joke as a kid that was terrible and I told it to my friends because I thought they’d think it was funny.
With all these recent occurrences for Drake and Lil Wayne, it seems that the most obvious thing to do is go on tour. Check your local ticket dealer to purchase tickets if you want to catch the pair live.
