Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez Arrested At White House For Second Time

Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez has begun making it a habit of being arrested at the White House. The Congressman was taken into custody by police this week while protesting immigration laws.

Gutierrez was upset that the Obama administration hasn’t pushed hard enough against Republicans to get them to pass the DREAM Act which would provide students who are illegal immigrants a faster path to citizenship.

According to a Gutierrez spokesperson:

“The president says that Republicans in Congress are blocking immigration reform, but that doesn’t let him off the hook,” while adding, “That’s the point of this event, and the point made yesterday when protesters interrupted Obama’s speech.”

The “event” Gutierrez was referring to was the National Council of La Raza, the largest US civil rights group for Hispanic’s in the United States.
