The otherwise great looking actor, Depp is quite famous to portray characters which often have the most outrageous appearances. Johnny’s latest avatar doesn’t sport outwardly appearance, however. The actor was completely unrecognizable when he was spotted filming a scene for a forthcoming biopic on renowned mafia killer James Bulger, reported Yahoo .
Johnny Depp was recently spotted offering one of his most dramatic, and honestly a little graphic scenes, for his latest movie in which he plays the role of the notorious gangster who is known and convicted of murdering 11 people in cold-blood. Though not all will be vividly recreated, 50-year-old Depp was seen filming a dramatic killing scene in Los Angeles, California, reported The Boston Globe .
Christened Black Mass , the movie tells the story of convicted gangster James ‘Whitey’ Bulger, who last November, received two life sentences and five years for his part in 11 murders and other crimes including drug trafficking, racketeering, extortion, and money laundering during the 1970s through to the 1990s. The film, directed by Scott Cooper, is based on the book Black Mass: The True Story Of An Unholy Alliance Between The FBI And The Irish Mob , by ex-Boston Globe reporters Dick Lehr and Gerald O’Neill.
Other actors besides Johnny Depp involved in this movie are Benedict Cumberbatch, who replaced Guy Pearce. Benedict plays the gangster’s law abiding brother, Bill. Joel Edgerton has been cast to play the role of the corrupt FBI Agent John Connolly. As reported by The Inquisitr , Dakota Johnson will play the role of Bulger’s girlfriend, Lindsey.
The film, slated to release next year, is currently undergoing filming in multiple locations in and around Boston, Massachusetts. Speaking about his role, Johnny once said, “The reason to play him is obvious to me. He’s a fascinating character. It’s not like anything I’ve done before, on that level. I’m very excited to slide into that skin for a little bit.”
Johnny Depp has always been a very methodical actor, and that is precisely what director Cooper is looking for. Cooper revealed he was determined get to the root of the psychology and behavior in his film. “I only want to work with actors to have a strong point of view and who want to race to set. And Johnny Depp is that type of actor. He’s always pushing himself and always playing something different. He’s one of the best actors in American screen history,” he said.
Never the one to disappoint in the appearances and performance department, Johnny Depp appears to have successfully imbued the physique as well as of the psyche of Bulger.
