Kristen Bell To Host CMT Music Awards 2014 Solo

Kristen Bell returns to the CMT Music Awards as host for the third consecutive year. Only this time, the Veronica Mars actress will be taking on hosting duties solo.

Bell had previously co-hosted the awards show with Toby Keith and Jason Aldean, respectively. But now that she’s on her own this year, expect something as good, if not better than previous years. Kristen spoke with CMT News about the upcoming gig:

“You know, it’s a safety net to have someone up there for sure. But it’s also far from the hardest job in the world. I have a teleprompter and wonderful writers behind the show, and the show is always produced in such a way that it’s so fun and fan-oriented that I think there’s kind of no way we can go wrong…. I think the way they’re lining up the show this year and the amount of cool surprise guests and acts, I think it should be a pretty cool show.”

Kristen Bell likes to refer to the CMT Music Awards as country music’s biggest “house party.” And she was excited about heading back to Nashville for a show unlike any other.

“It’s a lot more fun, I think, that country music has such a storytelling aspect,” she said. “It’s like you’re talking directly to someone, so it’s like there’s this extra layer of humanity. Not to sound dramatic, but it’s true. I think country music is very much about the fans, and that’s kind of how the show feels. It feels like a big party with a lot of friends and a lot of love.”

As for who will join the Frozen star as presenters and performers, Us Weekly is reporting that “LeAnn Rimes, Brooklyn Decker, Rascal Flatts, Cassadee Pope, and more are set to present.”

In an interview with the tabloid, Kristen reiterated her love for the CMT Music Awards and specifically mentioned the performers as her favorite reason for hosting:

“It’s such a fun show that never takes itself too seriously. The musical performances are like seeing the best country concert lineup all in one venue.”

Aside from prepping for the CMT Awards, Bell recently joined forces with Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lawrence to launch a campaign to keep Hollywood paparazzi from photographing young kids. As reported by The Inquisitr, “Bell’s No Kids Policy is picking up steam with a simple but powerful tool — celebrity access. She’s gotten stars like Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lawrence to refuse interviews with television and print outlets that use pictures of Hollywood kids taken without their parents’ consent.”

The CMT Music Awards with solo host Kristen Bell will air Wednesday, June 4, at 8 pm on CMT.
